UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
Item 9912-02: J. Wells made a presentation to the Committee, regarding his concerns
re
contamination of clothing as it relates to compliance with COSH 9.44(4) of the
Canada Labour Code. The Committee is in concensus that the Company (E/S)
is not in compliance with regulation and recommended followup with G. Pozzobon,
Gen. Manager (Engineering). Jim requested Committee's recommendation with
regard to providing washers/dryers as a means for cleaning work clothes which
have
been contaminated. Further elevated to ES System H&S Policy Committee.
Action(0110) System E/S H&S Policy Committeee reviewed and recommended issue
be resolved
by local Workplace H&S Committee. Committee discussed and has recommended
that a service contractor be looked into for cleaning and supplying coveralls
in
lieu of washers and dryers. R. McIlveen to advise further. MOTION TO CARRY
Item 0103-02: High Visibility Apparel - many Safety Hazard Reports submitted
concerning vests
becoming caught on equipment.
Action (0110) Policy and catalogue in place. Changes for payment include certified
cheque and
money orders. Payroll deduction are not available at this time. Winter catalogue
not out yet -
concern with time frame for ordering winter apparel. MOTION TO CARRY
Item 0103-04: P. Bede inquired re Laurie Shed repeaters for locotrol.
Action(0110) S&C Supvr advises repeater system in Laurie Sheds has not been
commission and is not
to be considered as in service until otherise advised. Portions of it may be
left running at
times, such as Locotrol, so some evidence of it may be noticed.

Item 0103-05: P. Bede inquired possibility of increasing speed restriction for
new potash cars from
15 mph to 20 mph.
Action(0110) Issue elevated to senior E/S management. J. Galloway to investigate
progress.

Item 0104-03: K. Jones advised re spill response containers are not marked for
tare weight.
Requested that they be weighed and decal applied.
Action(0110) K. Jones advises Tappen container has been taken care of. New shipment
of supplies
received has been stored. Containers still have to be taken to scales to be
weighed.

Item 0107-01: B. Gardali reminded Committee members that Running Trades employees
have
not yet been fit tested for gas masks.
Action(0110) B. Santucci advised Committee issue of fit testing has been elevated
to Senior
Management for advisement. He also advised he will make arrangements for a Trainer
to show employees how to use the tunnel respirators. Committee recommended pre-departure
meetings be considered for training. MOTION TO CARRY
Item 0108-01: P. Bede requested a small refrigerator to be made available for
crews
to store their lunches while waiting for their train to arrive.

SAFETY HAZARD REPORTS
(Incomplete SHR0102-03: Lead locomotives (9000 series) - seats uncomfortable
Action (0110) Mechanical Services advises some new seats have been installed.
Units should
not be leaders but continue to be. Committee has exhausted all avenues, recommend
elevate to Policy Committee. J. Galloway to follow up. MOTION TO CARRY
SHR0106-17: Watering AC4400 locomotives at Sicamous (and other locations) poses
a situation where
a risk of falling off the locomotive because lack of handrail. Suggest a proper
fitting for the hose to allow the nozzle to stay secure by itself while watering
and/or apply grab iron to ensure stability while standing on the platform while
watering.
Action(0110) K. Jones advises all fittings at all recommended locations have
been completed.

SHR0108-02: Donald backtrack - high weeds causing poor visibility, tripping
hazard.

SHR0108-05: Unit 9540 work area very dirty. Dust and dirt in heater fans, floor,
etc.
Action(0110) Locomotive Specialist confirmed unit had been reported. This is
the proper
procedure to be follow when encountering dirty units. This particular unit had
been
a remote and should not have been used as a leader until cleaned.

SHR0109-07: R Taxi van arrived with improper plate displayed for passenger carrier
insurance.
Action(0110) Taxi company advised that while another license plate was used,
legally this can
be done as long as the vehicle is properly insured, operated by the company
and
certified road worthy by government inspectors. Vehicle was properly licensed
and insured. MOTION TO DELETE
SHR0109-09: Unit 9554 - chemical toilet/floor drain - stains and odor.

0600 (Field)

SHR0110-02: Concern riding Greyhound buses - no security measures to ensure
luggage or
boxes do not contain explosives or hazardous materials.

on ground.

SHR0110-04: Exhaust fumes Diesel Shop
Action(0110) TMS Palasz advises on this day in question, a machine was in the
shop for
repair, investigation revealed the breaker was shut off, not allowing the
fans to operate to ventilate fumes. MOTION TO DELETE
SHR0110-05: Unit 9131 had great amounts of coal dust throughout cab.

T. Bergstrom reminded Committee of upcoming Level 2 training and 2002 Safety
Framework.
NEW BUSINESS:
Item 0110-01: B. Gardali questioned repair of collapsing walkway M.123.3 Mtn
South Trk.
Action(0110) J. Creighton advises will not be able to repair before snow - will
remain
out of service. MOTION TO DELETE
Item 0110-02: B. Gardali requested a pole be installed for lighting purposes
at Ducks.
Action(0110) To be investigated. MOTION TO CARRY
Item 0110-03: P. Bede requested action to units requiring weatherstripping around
panel to stop any drafts.
