UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
Item 9912-02: J. Wells made a presentation to the Committee, regarding his
concerns re
contamination of clothing as it relates to compliance with COSH 9.44(4) of the
Canada Labour Code. The Committee is in concensus that the Company (E/S)
is not in compliance with regulation and recommended followup with G.
Pozzobon,
Gen. Manager (Engineering). Jim requested Committee's recommendation with
regard to providing washers/dryers as a means for cleaning work clothes which
have been contaminated. Further elevated to ES System H&S Policy Committee.
Action(0111) R. McIlveen advises washers and dryers are being installed at Salmon
Arm
and will be further installed at other locations. Monitor MOTION TO CARRY
Item 0103-02: High Visibility Apparel - many Safety Hazard Reports submitted
concerning
vests becoming caught on equipment.
Action (0111) Policy and catalogue in place. Changes for payment include certified
cheque and money orders. Payroll deduction are not available at this time. Winter
catalogue
coming.

potash cars from 15 mph to 20 mph.

weight. Requested that they be weighed and decal applied.

employees have not yet been fit tested for gas masks.

for crews to store their lunches while waiting for their train to arrive.

SAFETY HAZARD REPORT (Incomplete)
SHR0102-03: Lead locomotives (9000 series) - seats uncomfortable
Action (0111) Mechanical Services advises some new seats have been installed.
Units
should not be leaders but continue to be. Committee has exhausted all avenues,
recommend elevate to Policy Committee. J. Galloway to follow up.

SHR0108-02: Donald backtrack - high weeds causing poor visibility,
tripping hazard.
Action (0111) Motion to wait until spring.
MOTION TO DELETE
SHR0108-05: Unit 9540 work area very dirty. Dust and dirt in heater fans,
floor, etc.
Action(0111) Locomotive Specialist confirmed unit had been reported.
This is the proper procedure to be follow when encountering dirty units. This
particular unit had been a remote and should not have been used as a leader
until cleaned.

SHR0109-09: Unit 9554 - chemical toilet/floor drain - stains and odor.
Action (0111) Unit reported and Mechanical Dept. advised.

SHR0110-02: Concern riding Greyhound buses - no security measures to
ensure luggage or boxes do not contain explosives or hazardous materials.
Action(0111) J. Galloway advises Greyhound has their own safeguards and
policies in place.

SHR0110-03: Donald #1 back track - high brush on north side, numerous
objects on ground.
Action(0111) Area inspected on site inspection. ok

SHR0110-05: Unit 9131 had great amounts of coal dust throughout cab.
Action(0111) Unit should be reported to Diesel Dr. A. Manconi, Service
Area Manager, Mechanical Services advised with regard to closer vigilance required
to
ensure units are cleaned when used as lead locomotives and/or ensuring these
units are
utlized as a remote.

SAFETY HAZARD REPORTS (New)
SHR0111-01: Marshalling violation empty multi-platform car on headend
train 250-07 with 5000 tons trailing, brought through to Revelstoke.
Action(0111) J. Galloway advised Committee that NMC was advised and car
should have been set off.

SHR0111-02: Dusting suppressant overspray compound on outside of coal cars
making for extremely dirty and slippery when wet (grabirons).
Action(0111) No complaints received from Golden. Peter Lanyi, Manager
Coal, advises spray should be confined to the width of the car avoiding overspray
off
the side walls, however spraying of the front and rears is unavoidable at this
time since turning the spray on and off to avoid is not possible at 10mph. Problem
will
be taken into consideration in the design of a permanent facility. Followup

SHR0111-03: Revelstoke Station - pedestrian signs obscured by spruce trees
proximity of station doors to cars entering parking lot.
Action(0111) K. Jones advised signs have been moved.

SHR0111-04: Tie gang working on south track at Golden, slow order 10mph
south track M.35-35.1, however north track speed 50 mph (Rocky Mtn), concern
reducing
speed when employees working in devil strip.
Action(0111) Policy is in place when employees working in multi-track -
Rule 42, TOP, Watchman.

SHR0111-05: Golden taxi driver drove erratically with crew.
Action(0111) Taxi Exception Reports should be completed for these instances.

SHR0111-06: Field Station rain eavetroughs plugged and dripping onto
sidewalk and freezing making icy conditions for walking.

motion. Reported once already.
Action(0111) Unit did not make it to Coquitlam at first reporting for

SHR0111-09: Lack of clear Company policy with regard to hazards created by
trains stalling, specifically during winter conditions.

Action(0111) Committee reviewed and made recommended changes. Review and

or location.
Actin(0111) Locations identified where clarification is needed would be
Ross Peak and Golden. This would also have to be coordinated with the RTC
