Item 9912-02: J. Wells requested washer/dryers be provided for means for cleaning work
clothes which have been contaminated. (Referred to Canada Labour Code COSH9.44(4))
Item elevated to ES System H&S Policy Committee.
Action(0202) Washers installed at Salmon Arm, Chase. Waiting for Revelstoke, Kamloops.
J. Wells reports well used. Monitor

from the south & north main to south/main and 4 track

or location.
Action(0202) Locations identified where clarification is needed would be
Ross Peak and Golden. This would also have to be coordinated with the RTC

Item 0112-01: J. Meloro expressed concern with regard to lack of
protection in Revelstoke Yard when contractors are on site unloading contents from tank cars.

purposes.

lack of ventilation.

looks promising - manurfacturer to supply stronger product.

CORRESPONDENCE & BUSINESS ARISING

F. Bonanno advised Committee of new requirements with regard to eye and
hearing exams as they relate to Safety Critical Positions. Eye and Hearing exams will be
done with employee's physician in conjunction with periodic medicals. Employees must advise
their physician they work in a Safety Critical Position.

SAFETY HAZARD REPORTS (Incomplete)

SHR0110-04: Exhaust fumes - diesel shop.
Action(0202) B. Tully, Hygiene Specialist has completed air quality
tests. Report forthcoming. B. Black developing Work Procedures.

SHR0112-01: Train with EGT 17,643 and only 2 dynamic brakes. Second
engine had b/o DB tagged by shops.
Action(0202) Policy states minimum DB factor 16 (this instance met
policy). D. Zatko has requested Locomotive Distributors to make every effort to ensure all DB are
in working order out of origin.

SHR0112-07: Snow conditions while operating on heavy grades - suggest
advanced clear to stop signals on all heavy grade.
Action(0202) Priority locations identified: Shuswap Signal 03 account
short block on the bridge at 30 mph and 851.
Mountain Sub: Signals 899M at Ross Peak, Signal 885M
intermediate Ross Peak, Signal 955 Intermediate Illecillewaet, Signal 1015 Downie and
Signal 745C Intermediate Griffith. S&C to advise costs.

SHR0112-11: R Taxi Van #4 - requires weatherstripping, reported tires worn out.
Action(0202) J. Galloway met with R Taxi who advise vehicles have been repaired.

SHR0201-01: Complaint of taxi driver (Kami Cabs) driving erratically. (2 complaints)
Action(0202) J. Galloway advised first incident Kami Cabs management have spoken with driver.
(Second Incident) - letter has been written to Kami Cabs.

SHR0201-03: Risk of back injury at Field carrying the heavy bag of rule
books from the station to the bunkhouse. Suggest lockers be installed in station to leave the bags.
Action (0202) With proposed renovations to Field Bunkhouse, lockers will be installed.

SAFETY HAZARD REPORTS (New)

SHR0202-01: MacDonald Tunnel - reported 131 burned out lights in tunnel
Action (0202) S. Peters reported ongoing lamp replacement when time
permits as track block allow. He does not consider this to be a safety hazard, when the long
term goal is to turn the lights off, only having them on when required. The proposed
scenario is they could be turned on by radio control and would stay on for a prescribed
time. K. Jones advises bulbs are being changed out.

SHR0202-02: Mt 7 Taxi - reported erratic taxi driver.
Action(0202) J. Galloway advises Mt. 7 Taxi have met with their driver
and reprimanded him. Incident documented.

SHR0202-03: No walkway on bridge 64.5 Mtn & 64.67and snow cleared from
both sides of the main track over knee deep. Very hard walking conditions. (Jan 28th)
Action (0202) TMS Revelstoke reported plow working 6 days a week, and will
continue to spread the problem areas. J Creighton reports no immediate plans to put
walkways on these bridges. Isolated incident - employee judgement call to make their own
safety decision.

SHR0202-04: Excessive held away at away-from-home terminals could have the
potential to jeopardize safety.
Action(0202) In response to SHR, is the Work Place Committee's
recommendation that time away from home terminal not exceed 10 hours or more and recommend the
MTPL be more consistent with regard to lineups to enable RTE to allow
themselves to judge their rest requirements accordingly. Elevate to Policy Committee.
MOTION TO DELETE

SHR0202-05: Risk of muscle strain & knee joint distress due to over
exertion while seat occupant attempts to swivel seat (all 8600s).
Action(0202) Discussion and recommendation that in order for seat to
swivel freely lifting weight off the seat greatly improves the mobility of the seat.

SHR0202-06: Requirement of proper intake exhaust system for welding shop fumes.
Action(0202) K. Jones advised B. Tully has been contacted for advice.

Site Inspection - completed inspection at Greely, Albert Canyon, Mile 95.1
and Ross Peak. McDonald Tunnel - cleaned, installing new lights

DISTRICT SAFETY ADVISOR REPORT

T. Bergstrom inquired status of pit at shops identified in site inspection
requiring crossovers be installed. K. Jones to investigate.

Presentation Course set for Feb 25/26.

Terry inquired with Committee about initiating a Health & Safety Poster for
BCI SA. He will bring further information to the next meeting.

NEW BUSINESS

Item 0202-01: B. Gardali reported Cranbrook RTEs are obtaining headlamps.
He would like to know test results.

Item 0202-02: B. Gardali inquired status of supplied Hi-Viz Radio Pouches.
Action(0202) To be determined.
