Item 0312-02: Paul Bede suggests conversations with Diesel Dr take place on a channel other than standby or

CP 14, which is used by ES – prevents ES communication.

Action (0408) S. Bell advised issue has been raised to NMC and Diesel Dr for consideration.

B. Gardali received an E-mail from Transport Canada regarding recent incident of contractors (Downie St) unloading a tank car in Revelstoke Yard using unsafe practices.

SHR0212-03: MU cables laying around on the ground at Ducks, Chase and Squilax

Action (0408) Item brought back to table account unsure of status of installation of brackets at various locations.

Greely, Moberly and Squilax outstanding. T. Marinier to investigate. MOTION TO CARRY

SHR0310-07: Issue with VRU – being rested for duty

Action (0408) K. Sali advised that MTPL is an ongoing issue and will try to have OM’s update to reflect a more accurate lineup. Bob indicated he would like to push this issue to a higher level. Stan Bell indicated this issue has been raised to National H&S Committee. Bob indicated to carry in minutes to track. Bob further recommended NMC representation for an upcoming 4 hour safety meeting.

SHR0401-04: Field Bunkhouse – entranceway covered in ice and poorly lit.

Action (0408) J Creighton/Real Estate to advise –suggestion to relocate entrance.

Neil Higgins advised lights have been installed MOTION TO CARRY

SHR0401-07: White out conditions – being brought into slide path after red form being issued.

Action (0408) S. Bell to arrange a conference call with NMC and possibly RTC B McAstocker for September/October in preparation for winter. MOTION TO CARRY

SHR0403-01: Employee parking lot Victoria Road – slip, trip hazard, large pooling of water.

Action (0408) Tim Marinier indicated some work could be undertaken with installation of a drainage pipe/catch basin. Parking lot has been graded and sprayed.

Committee would still like to see above recommendations completed. Tim indicated this project is on the E/S agenda. MOTION TO CARRY

SHR0404-07: Kenwood radios are not working – trainee’s radio could not be heard one car length away – would not transmit.

Action (0408) Bob informed committee complaints are being documented with regard to these radios.

Testing is ongoing. Complaints seem to be system wide. Committee will monitor.

SHR0404-08: Called for 0250 and waited over an hour for train. Better calls or a rest area in station.

Action (0408) Committee to investigate setting up a rest area in station. MOTION TO CARRY

SHR0406-01: Canoe – lumber stack is too high and reduces line of sight xing to mill.

Action (0408) Sam Morrone has contacted the mill and has been advised stacks will be moved/reduced.

MOTION TO DELETE

SHR0406-04: Deadheading in company jeep – baggage was over top of seat – no restraints

Action (0408) Arrangements being made to have restraints installed in these vehicles. MOTION TO DELETE

SAFETY HAZARD REPORTS (New)

SHR0407-01: Industrial and household waste being dumped adjacent to railway close to (Taft) Crazy Creek, a spawning river.

Action (0407) TMS E Palasz advised the material is on private property and Department of Fisheries & Oceans know about it, but are not able to do anything unless there is actual leaching into the stream.

SHR0407-02: Revelstoke Yard #5 switch east end hard to throw.

Action (0408) ES advises switch inspected and lubricated. MOTION TO DELETE

SHR0407-03: Macdonald Tunnel – diesel smoke in tunnel (July 28)

Action (0408) S. Peters to advise MOTION TO CARRY

SHR0407-04: Macdonald Tunnel – no response to emergency call on 911 or *50#, tunnel was full of exhaust (July 30). Need emergency response dial in working.

- Mock Evacuation (Revelstoke) tentatively scheduled for September

NEW BUSINESS

Item 0408-01: B. Gardali inquired the state of tunnel cleaning (Macdonald)

Action (0408) N. Niggins / J. Creighton to advise

Item 0408-02: B. Gardali reported during recent site inspection it was noted brush cutting very overdue – site lines, trip hazards (M.40.1 Shu and backtrack Taft)

Action (0408) TMS Palasz to advise.

Item 0408-03: It was reported that on August 4^th, ES contacted the MYPM to enter the yard who indicated there was no conflict, however there was a CWR train in yard. The CWR train was on Channel 2 and ES does not have Channel 2
