Meeting called to order 0900.  Minutes of March 11th meeting read and adopted.

SAFETY ACTION PLANS:

Field Ops – Site Inspections, Away From Home meetings – scheduled for next month

Item 0305-02: P. Bede inquired about stretchers in deployed position – can’t get person on stretcher off unit.

Action (0404)    Sergio Sabatini advises item is being examined by National H&S Policy Committee.

                        Committee discussed and agreed to table this item and remove it from the minutes.

Item 0311-01: P. Bede reported smaller bridge (last shed) at Flat Creek, Mile 94.5, has no walkway.

Action (0404)    Tim Marinier indicated there are many bridges across the system without walkways.  Screens or cables are in place for bridges without walkways.  Discussion concerning this bridge indicated at this location it is deemed a higher risk for train operating issues, ie separations.  Tim suggested a business case be developed in order for E/S to request monies to install a walkway.

                        Bob Gardali indicated there is no evidence or incidents to make a business case.

Item 0312-02: Paul Bede suggests conversations with Diesel Dr take place on a channel other than standby or

CP 14, which is used by ES – prevents ES communication.

Action (0404)    S. Bell advised issue has been raised to NMC and Diesel Dr for consideration.

SAFETY HAZARD REPORTS  (Incomplete)  

SHR0212-03:              MU cables laying around on the ground at Ducks, Chase and Squilax

Action (0404)    Item brought back to table account unsure of status of installation of brackets at various locations.

                        Racks have been installed at Chase and Ducks.

                        Greely and Moberly are still required.  Roy to check if required at Squilax.

SHR0310-07:  Issue with VRU – being rested for duty

Action (0404)    K. Sali advised that MTPL is an ongoing issue and will try to have OM’s update to reflect a more accurate lineup.  Bob indicated he would like to push this issue to a higher level.  Stan Bell indicated this issue has been raised to National H&S Committee.  Bob indicated to carry in minutes to track.

SHR0401-04:  Field Bunkhouse – entranceway covered in ice and poorly lit.

Action (0404)    J Creighton/Real Estate to advise –suggestion to relocate entrance.         

                        T. Marinier to follow up.  Short-term measures are in place.

SHR0401-07:  White out conditions – being brought into slide path after red form being issued.

Action (0404)    S. Bell to arrange a conference call with NMC and possibly RTC B McAstocker.

SHR0403-01: Employee parking lot Victoria Road – slip, trip hazard, large pooling of water.

Action (0404)   Tim Marinier indicated some work could be undertaken with installation of a drainage pipe/catch basin.  Stan Bell to follow up with T. Marinier.

E. Palasz indicated the parking lot will be graded next week and sprayed in a month.

SHR0403-03:  Overhanging tree mile 57.2 Shuswap and 56.2 Mountain.

Action (0404)   B Cowie advises tree at 57.2 Shu is hanging over from the Canoe public beach, he has contacted the City for removal.

S. Sadek advises trees at 56.2 Mtn were removed March 20/04.
